Durable SPST (single pole, single throw) time delay relay delivers extended service life and provides time delay characteristics to prevent false turnoff due to temporary ambient light conditions (such as lightning flashes or automobile headlights). During daylight hours, the normally closed switch is held in the open position, leaving the lamp load off. When daylight falls below the photocontrol's preset operating levels, the switch closes, turning the lamp load on.
